About Us
Maesgwyn Isaf is a 40 acre smallholding, situated 20 minutes walk through fields to the village of Llanboidy. Your hosts are Jenn & Stuart Carter, and we have lived here for 5 years. In this time we have extended the existing 2 acres of mature woods to create a 16 acre native, deciduous woodland. We have gone beyond 'carbon neutral' and become a local 'carbon sink'. The farmhouse B&B is nestled in its own wooded valley. We run the smallholding using permaculture principles, and have made this land into a haven for wildlife and trees.

Environmental Sustainability
Our aim is to provide our guests with a sustainably run B&B, maximising your comfort and well-being.
There are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, perfect for a family. The rooms are furnished in pine from managed forests, with bedding and linen made exclusively from organic materials.
A 6kW wind turbine provides our electricity, and the Bosky wood fuelled range in the kitchen provides warmth, hot water and cooking facilities. Our full English vegetarian breakfast offers the best of our farm fresh and local Welsh produce, and is of organic origin wherever possible. We are holders of the coveted Green Dragon Standard, and in 2007 were nominated for the Carmarthenshire Environment Business of the Year Award.

B&B Facilities
The two bedrooms share a spacious and comfortable bathroom for the exclusive use of our guests. Although there are no facilities for making tea & coffee in the bedrooms, we offer hot drinks on request morning and evening. There is a no smoking policy in the farmhouse.
A warm, comfortable lounge with television and a wood stove for those chilly evenings offers a retreat from the weather when needed. A boot room with ajoining wet-room is available for muddy boots and wet macs, and is particularly useful for walkers. On lovely days the terrace in front of the house is a peaceful place from which to watch the buzzards wheel. A meditation/quiet room is also available to our guests, Gongyo (Nichiren Buddhist practice) is done twice daily.

How to find us
Car: Travelling West from Carmarthen on the A40, turn right towards Llanboidy at the first roundabout at Whitland. Follow the signs into Llanboidy; go up through the village until you are at a T-junction at the top of the hill. Turn left; after about 500 metres, turn left again onto the Maesgwyn Isaf drive (opposite the entry for Masegwynne Mansion).
Walkers: If you are on the Landsker Walk clockwise, and going towards Llanboidy, then you will turn right onto the drive of the farm opposite Maesgwynne Mansion - then just follow the drive down to the house.
On the Landsker Walk anti-clockwise, walk left out of Llanboidy on a little lane below the school. At the end of the lane, follow the path up through a steep meadow and climb over the stile at the top left. You are now on the farm, so follow the hedge and continue along the green lane straight down to the farmhouse (ignoring the stile on your right).
Train: Change in Carmarthen and alight at Whitland. By pre-arrangement, we can collect you from or take you to the station.
